Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information GBT Zero collects, how it is used, and the rights you have with respect to your data. We have written it to be read, not just published.
Effective date: 1 July 2026 · Applies to: gbtzero.net1. Who we are
GBT Zero is an AI content detection service operated at gbtzero.net. References in this policy to “GBT Zero,” “we,” “us,” or “our” refer to the operator of this website. Our primary contact for privacy matters is [email protected].
This policy applies to all visitors and users of gbtzero.net and covers data collected through your use of the site, including the AI detection tool, informational pages, and any correspondence with us.
2. Data we collect
We collect two categories of information: data you provide actively, and data collected automatically when you visit the site.
2.1 Automatically collected data
When you visit gbtzero.net, standard server and analytics infrastructure records the following:
- IP address (anonymized before storage by Google Analytics — see Section 6)
- Browser type and version
- Operating system
- Referring URL (the page you came from, if any)
- Pages visited on this site and time spent on each
- Date and time of access
- General geographic location (country/region level, derived from anonymized IP)
This data is collected for the purposes described in Section 4. It does not include your name, email address, or any other directly identifying information unless you provide it to us.
2.2 Data you provide
We collect information you provide directly, which may include:
- Email address and message content when you contact us at [email protected]
- Text submitted to the detection tool (see Section 3 for how this is handled)
| Data type | How collected | Retained? |
|---|---|---|
| Anonymized usage analytics | Google Analytics (automatic) | Yes — see Section 7 |
| Submitted text for detection | Detection tool (you paste it) | No — processed transiently |
| Email correspondence | You write to us | Yes — for support purposes |
| Cookie identifiers | Analytics cookies (browser) | Yes — see Section 5 |
3. Submitted text — how it is handled
Text you submit to the GBT Zero detection tool is processed transiently to generate a detection score. It is not stored as identifiable user data, not linked to your identity, not shared with third parties for their own purposes, and not used to train detection models or any other machine learning system.
When you paste text into the detection tool and click “Analyze,” the submitted text is passed to our detection engine, which calculates the detection score and signal values returned to your browser. This processing occurs in memory during the request cycle. After the response is returned, the submitted text is not written to any persistent database or log file associated with your session or identity.
Aggregate, anonymized statistical information derived from detection requests — such as average text length or overall score distributions — may be retained for the purpose of improving detection accuracy. This aggregate data cannot be used to reconstruct any individual submission.
We recommend that you do not submit text containing personal data (names, ID numbers, medical information, financial details) that is not necessary for the detection task you are performing. Although submitted text is not retained, handling sensitive personal data through any online tool carries inherent risk and should be done with appropriate care.
4. How we use the data we collect
We use the information collected for the following purposes:
- Providing the detection service. Processing submitted text to return a detection score is the core function of the site. This processing is necessary to fulfill the service you have requested.
- Site analytics and improvement. Anonymized usage data collected through Google Analytics is used to understand how the site is used, identify technical issues, and prioritize improvements to the tool and content.
- Responding to correspondence. When you contact us by email, we use your email address and message content to respond to your inquiry and, where relevant, to resolve technical issues you have reported.
- Legal compliance. We may process or retain data where required by applicable law, court order, or regulatory obligation.
We do not sell personal data to third parties. We do not use personal data for advertising targeting. We do not share data with third parties except as described in Section 6.
5. Cookies
GBT Zero uses cookies for one purpose: website analytics via Google Analytics. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party marketing cookies.
5.1 Analytics cookies (Google Analytics)
Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to distinguish unique visitors and sessions, enabling us to understand aggregate usage patterns. The cookies set by Google Analytics on this site include:
| Cookie name | Purpose | Expiry |
|---|---|---|
| _ga | Distinguishes unique visitors | 2 years |
| _ga_[ID] | Maintains session state | 2 years |
| _gid | Distinguishes users within 24-hour sessions | 24 hours |
Google Analytics is configured on this site with IP anonymization enabled. This means the last octet of your IP address is zeroed out before any data is sent to Google’s servers, so your full IP address is never transmitted to or stored by Google Analytics in connection with your visit to this site.
5.2 Managing cookies
You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to refuse all cookies, accept only certain types, or delete existing cookies. Note that refusing analytics cookies does not affect your ability to use the detection tool — no functionality on this site depends on cookies being accepted.
You can also opt out of Google Analytics tracking across all websites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
6. Third-party services
GBT Zero uses the following third-party services. Each operates under its own privacy policy, linked below.
6.1 Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics (a service operated by Google LLC) to collect anonymized information about how visitors use this site. Google Analytics receives anonymized usage data including pages visited, time on site, device type, and approximate location (country/region). Full IP addresses are not transmitted to Google Analytics from this site.
Google LLC is a US-based company. Data collected by Google Analytics may be stored on servers in the United States and other countries where Google operates infrastructure. Google participates in the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. For more information, see Google’s Privacy Policy and Google Analytics data practices.
6.2 Hosting and infrastructure
This site is hosted on infrastructure provided by third-party hosting and content delivery providers. These providers process IP addresses and request data as part of normal server operation. They do not receive submitted text from the detection tool, which is processed within our own application layer.
6.3 No advertising networks
We do not use any advertising networks, retargeting pixels, social media tracking widgets, or affiliate tracking scripts on this site. No data about your visit to gbtzero.net is shared with advertising platforms.
7. Data retention
We retain different categories of data for different periods based on their purpose:
- Submitted text: Not retained. Processed in memory during the request and discarded after the response is returned to your browser.
- Google Analytics data: Retained for 26 months by default within Google Analytics, after which it is automatically deleted. You can view and adjust the retention period applicable to your data using the Google Analytics opt-out tool.
- Email correspondence: Retained for as long as necessary to resolve the matter to which the correspondence relates, and for a reasonable period thereafter in case follow-up is required. We do not retain email correspondence indefinitely.
- Server access logs: Retained for a short operational period (typically 30–90 days) for security and debugging purposes, then deleted.
When data is no longer required for the purpose for which it was collected and no legal obligation requires its retention, we delete it.
8. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights with respect to personal data we hold about you. Visitors from the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and certain other jurisdictions have specific statutory rights under applicable data protection law (including the GDPR and UK GDPR).
- Right of access. You may request a copy of personal data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification. You may request correction of inaccurate personal data.
- Right to erasure. You may request deletion of your personal data where there is no legitimate basis for continued processing.
- Right to restrict processing. You may request that we limit how we use your data in certain circumstances.
- Right to data portability. Where processing is based on consent or contract and is carried out by automated means, you may request your data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format.
- Right to object. You may object to processing based on our legitimate interests.
- Right to withdraw consent. Where processing is based on your consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected]. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law (generally within 30 days for GDPR requests). We may need to verify your identity before processing a request.
If you believe your data protection rights have been violated, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the relevant supervisory authority in your jurisdiction.
9. Children
GBT Zero is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe that a child under your care has submitted personal data to this site, please contact us at [email protected] and we will take steps to delete that information.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page.
We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of gbtzero.net after a revised policy is posted constitutes your acceptance of the changes, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
